Freyabadi Indotama, a leading chocolate manufacturer in Indonesia, has embarked on an ambitious mission to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% by 2023, aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. As part of this commitment, Freyabadi has implemented a groundbreaking solar energy initiative at its Karawang facility in partnership with TotalEnergies.
The newly installed TotalEnergies solar rooftop features over 2,100 panels covering 5,400 square meters, delivering a 1.1 MWp (megawatt-peak) capacity. This solar installation generates 1,600 MWh (megawatt-hours) of renewable electricity annually, meeting 13% of Freyabadi's energy needs. By harnessing clean and renewable energy, Freyabadi is avoiding over 1,300 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
This project exemplifies the power of innovative partnerships in driving environmental stewardship and achieving significant reductions in carbon emissions.
TotalEnergies ENEOS, a joint venture in the Asia-Pacific region, played a pivotal role in developing and implementing the rooftop-based photovoltaic (PV) solar system for Freyabadi Indotama. The solar system consists of 2,128 panels strategically installed on Freyabadi's factory rooftop, contributing 1,138 kWp of renewable electricity annually, equivalent to 12.6% of the total power supply needed by the facility.
